ONE ACT FINAL PROJECT
MAIN OBJECTIVE: YOU WILL PRODUCE AND ACT IN A ONE ACT PLAY FOLLOWING THE STEPS OF PRODUCTION.
FEEL AND UNDERSTAND YOUR PLAY
Objective: You will create a poster for your play.
Assignment: Create a poster with the date you’re performing including artwork that symbolizes what your play is about.
Objective: You will get know your character better.
Assignment: Write an auto-biography* for your character bringing them to the moment where the play begins.
SEND YOUR PLAY INTO MOTION
Objective: You will create a ground plan appropriate for your play and practical for the Black Box Theatre.
Assignment: Ground plan drawing*. (One for each play you’re in)
Objective: You will stage your play and give your character motivated staging.
Assignment: Write blocking in the script* and practice it until memorized.
DISECT THE THOUGHT PROCESS
Objective: You will understand and replicate your character’s thought process.
Assignment: Beat your script using the guidelines we learned in class.
DESIGN AND CREATE TECHNICAL NEEDS
Objective: You will wear a costume and apply makeup appropriate for your character.
Assignment: Create a costume design* on paper and then make the costume for your play. Wear makeup for the performance as needed.
Objective: You will incorporate props and furniture appropriate for the action of your play.
Assignment: Create a make, pull, buy list* for the props and furniture in your play.
Objective: You will use sound FX and music appropriate for your play.
Assignment: Make, Record and provide Sound FX and pre and post-show music for your play and mark the cues* in your script.
Objective: You will use lighting to enhance the impact of your play.
Assignment: Mark lighting cues* in your script and provide a general description for the lighting technician. You may also use a single projection that helps to tell your story.
REHEARSE AND PERFORM
Objective: You will perform your play for an audience.
Assignment: Memorize your lines and prepare for a performance through effective rehearsals. Be on time and prepared for calls. Perform as scheduled. Attend at least one other night.

Tech Class: Crew the Performances, provide technical support.
