Dear Lincoln Theatre Actor and Technician Parents,
Digital Drama Class The fun classes are soliciting engagement too! Student actors and technicians have been receiving assignments on band from me since March 30. We are writing, creating and watching live theatre together. Currently, the response is very low and I understand that elective courses will take a break while they continue to work on math, english, science and social studies not mention gearing up for an online AP test. I'll try to keep what we're doing both challenging for those who want something solid to work on and on the flip side, provide activities that are quick, fun and easy to produce. I mainly just want them to look at the assignments, check in, say hey and let everyone in class know that they're out there and making it. On band, we can see who has viewed the messages. Most classes have a 50% 👀 rate. I'd like to get that a little higher. Maybe you can remind them to check. It's also time for Auditions! This year is all virtual. Students can see the link on lhsdramahall.com now. I'll be guiding them towards it this Friday so they can begin their monolog selection. Lastly, if you student has an F in my class as of March 13, I will attempt to reach them so they can do a project to get that grade up so they get credit for the class on their transcripts. Seniors who need the credit for graduation desperately need to make that happen. It would be great to hear from them first!

Watch Jane Eyre at the London National Theatre Playwriting: Continue adding pages to your play. Continue soliciting feedback. Actor Resume Every professional actor has a resume. Every professional looking for employment will eventually need one. Create an actor’s resume for yourself! 1. Research what actor resumes look like and what information is on them. Note that there are many ways to lay them out but the information on all of them is consistent. 2. Gather all the information you need about yourself into rough draft. If you’ve just started, feel free to use your in class performances that we did this short school year. 3. Create your resume using your software of choice. Google Docs is great, then you can always update it online! 4. Post a PDF of your resume in the comments. If you already have a working resume, great, I can’t wait to see it, updated of course. This week you will start writing a short one act play and we'll watch a theatre production together.
These are the instructions for Drama 1, please see band for your classes specific guide. It's not that much difference. One Act Writing: You might think that this is too hard for you to accomplish. I say BS. What I want you to do is to find a children's story, a fable, a cartoon, a story from creepy pasta, any short story that you can turn into a play and do that. Adapt an already short story into a one act play. There is a guide posted here that covers the entire project. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jxVTBKSKpKG6Yxh2lafpjPLqEW-RD_lnuxBulXpznl4/edit?usp=sharing You'll be able to get the directions in full, find the link to the presentation on how to write a play and follow a time line that will have write your play this month. If you do a little bit every day or about an hour a week, you'll finish it. I'll be making a separate post for how to use celtx.com. It's playwriting software that you'll use to share with friends and myself. There is no grading with this assignment. I just want to give you something that you can totally do on your own and not have to worry about memorizing anything! Watch a play at the National Theatre of London

Technical Theatre Assignments: 3/30-4/3
This week you will practice some scale drawing and we'll watch a theatre production together. This week create and post a 1/4” scale drawing of your bedroom. If you’re feeling extra, do your entire home. Just one floor, if you have more than one. Post a picture of it here. You can hand draw or use your computer. Don't forget all the windows, doors, furniture. Post the drawing in a comment under the submit post on band. Each week for the remainder of the year two assignments will be posted on your class band then copied to this blog.
Your parents will eventually be aware that this exists. I know that your academic classes are pressing you hard and when assignments are optional, you may not have the same motivation as you did before. I'm here to simply inspire you, keep you engaged in some activities that are both long in their creative scope or fun and simple that can be knocked out in in a few minutes. I also know that you are involved with a lot of video conferences right now. In the near future, I'll host some office hours that you can pop in on and ask questions. I have to get that settled and see what software we like. For now, you can send a chat to me in band ANYTIME and I'll check those every morning. There will be an activity for actors, technicians and then one for both. Here we go! |
USE BAND TO SUBMITThis page is a duplicate of what is posted on band for you. If anything is asked for submission, you post it there on band. Please do not post anything here. This page is a secondary reference for the assignments. Please email me if you have questions. Archives
